Wife finally decided to get a new cat.

Wife wanted a kitten.

Wife was chosen by kitten.

Here is sample photo of kitten. Or, if you want a photo of kitten actually staying still, here. (Seriously, how do people get all those photos of kittens in a row staying cutely still? Either they have much more cooperative kittens than we do, or much faster cameras.)

His name is Yuri. He is adorable! And purrs as soon as you pick him up!

He is also exhausting. Partially because Pallas is Miss Not Trusting This Small Fuzzy Interloper 2020 (so we're Slowly Introducing them, and he's staying shut in a particular room most of the time), and partially because he has no sense of I Have Been Squirted With A Water Gun Every Time I've Been Caught On The Table, Gee, Maybe I Shouldn't Go On The Table (At Least While The Moms Can See), and partially because he is a kitten! and wants to play! all the damn time! Toes are for eating!

Wife has informed me that if she ever again gets the idea into her head that she wants a kitten/puppy, I am to remind her of this time and tell her NO NO NO NOT AGAIN.

yay, kitten! sorry Yuri is exhausting, but I believe that's the primary job of a kitten. hopefully he and Pallas will get along

Hopefully! Pallas has always been a diva who thinks she should be Favorite Cat Always, so it was never going to be easy.

Best way to get still images of kittens is to wait for them to fall asleep. Anything else is a bit of a roll of the dice. Because yeah, kittens are active! And curious! And adventurous! And have entirely too much energy per pound. XD

(But yes, this is why I have aimed at a cat around 9-15ish months when I have been at humane societies. Less adorable kitten, but much less zoom and chaos.)

Astra is now a dignified 9, and curled up by my knee being an adorable void.

We think so too! Admittedly, more so when he's quiet, and still, and not actively trying to climb on top of my wife's laptop.

Definitely adorable! Which they pretty much have to be, for people to put up with their energy.

This is why we got a 3 year old cat at the shelter, not a kitten. Although she also has not yet been dissuaded from leaping on the kitchen counter despite the Squirt Bottle of Doom, sadly.
