jennaria: The entry-way to Bag End (home)

MONDAY: we are literally on the plane when Air Canada's systems go down, including the bits about plane clearance. Eventually they send us back into the terminal, as the fix is taking sweet forever. Wife is okay with this, as she has grading to do: I was less so. They did finally get us back on the plane and up to Toronto, but not until ~4 hours later. We did not have lunch. We eventually had dinner, thanks to Tim Hortons being across from our housing, but not until 8 PM. Both Wife and I are prone to the hangries. No heads were bitten off, but it was a closer call than either Wife or I would've liked.

TUESDAY: To the Royal Ontario Museum for my birthday! We spent the money for the special exhibits, of which the Vikings were okay, the Dior was amazing, and the National Wildlife Photography was meh. Also, can highly recommend their dinosaur halls and the Daoist murals copied from (? - I hope) a Chinese monastery.

WEDNESDAY: Wife went off to do conference things. I intended to go out and do tourist things, only to find out that (a) I didn't actually know where I was going, and (b) I had forgotten hat and scarf, and this was not the weather for that. Hit up a local library for a little while, then came back to home base and lounged around, posting photos on Facebook with appropriate notes. Dinner was at the Elephant And Castle, where we tried poutine for the first time (tastier than expected).

THURSDAY: Take two on the tourist things! I hit up the Merrill Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Library, and also the larger public library of which it is a part. Then I met Wife to see the Bota Shoe Museum, which proved to be as good as y'all promised. Final shiny thing: a Bootlegger-themed Escape Room at Casa Loma. I hadn't known what to expect, but the result was a live-action version of my beloved hidden-object adventure puzzle games.

FRIDAY: Went off to Ripley's Aquarium. Did not buy tickets ahead of time online, as would apparently have been the prudent move. Instead, because I am more stubborn than smart sometimes, I waited in line for an hour, and spent a ridiculous amount of money, to get into an aquarium that only took me an hour to walk through, and that's with doubling back to get proper shots of their sea turtles. On the other hand, I did get the photos of the sea turtles, so it wasn't a total loss. Also dinner was at Momofuku, which is a mostly-Japanese mostly-noodle place where the food was tasty and the snow was outside where we could admire it, not on us. Then Wife and I went off to the ballet - the theater a block away had SLEEPING BEAUTY, and we got rush tickets.

SATURDAY: Tagged along to Wife's conference, as this was the day she was presenting. Between listening to Wife and reading a lot, I could mostly follow the presenters, even! Wife's presentation went well, Friend's presentation went well, we met up with an old aquaintance of Wife's and all went out for Indian. As is usual, this resulted in all of us eating more than we should because it was /so tasty./

SUNDAY: Home! With no delays this time, thank heavens. Cats are alternating between being super cuddly and being super suspicious of us. Neighbor who was keeping an eye on them stopped by because he wasn't sure when we would be home, and returned my key, so even that's taken care of. Hooray! :thud:
