I can has a driver's license!

(It took three tries, you're damn right I'm psyched.)

To celebrate, we went to see MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. It bears very little resemblance to the original TV show - for starters, they have swapped in Neal Caffrey from WHITE COLLAR for Napoleon Solo, and Illya is made something resembling a berserker, rather than the ice prince from the TV show. On the other hand, the plotline didn't totally insult my intelligence, women got to be awesome, and there were suitable numbers of explosions. It's not great. I'm not even sure I'd say it's good. But it's fun, even if it never really aspires to be any more than a popcorn flick, and it has a few easter eggs for those of us who are familiar with the TV show, and/or are nostalgic for classic, Connery-era Bond films.

(I've seen at least one fan review that says Hugh Grant as Waverly steals the show. I agree.)

That brings back memories; when I was 17 I had 30 driving lessons. I remember at one stage when learning to do three-point turns (an absolutely necessary skill for a UK driving licence) managing to put all 4 wheels of the car onto the pavement. It was around then I realised that driving a car was never going to be a skill I would possess.
