(no subject)

hatfullofstars came over this weekend, for purposes of kicking back and watching anime. I hooked her on SAIYUKI, for which I decline to apologize, mwahaha, and we watched some of KAMEN RIDER KABUTO, which is more doubtful. Shall have to keep trying. :fists of determination:

Then Stef got home, and we watched the last bit of AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. ( Should I warn for spoilers? Eh, I'll warn for spoilers. )

Next morning was MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., because Kris hadn't seen any and we had the episode with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy as guest stars. Then SHINGU, because I haven't given up on sharing that series either (it's fun! it's subversive! it has all kinds of subtext if you have a dirty mind!), then MYTHICAL DETECTIVE LOKI RAGNAROK, which holy shit is that fun. It fucks around with Norse mythology six ways to Sunday, but the Norse deities are due - the Greeks have been taking it for the team, they're due a rest. Besides, anything that gives wee!Loki an honest-to-whatever magical girl transformation sequence when he summons his magical staff is a win in my book. The obligatory idiot girl is...obligatory, but I'm willing to tolerate her for the rest of it.*

*That's probably an entire other post, regarding idiot girls in anime vs. useful girls, when one abruptly becomes the other, those who avoid the issue entirely, and other such gender issues, re: relative interest and tolerance, comma, mine.
