jennaria: Great horned owl with its head tilted to one side quizzically (Baroo?)

Two more panels today: one featuring Elijah Wood (what do you mean that man is in his 40s. Who allowed this.) and Andy Serkis, and one featuring four cast members from Strange New Worlds!

First, Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis! This panel opened with an actual, explicit 'no seriously, we are doing the discord thing because of the strike, do not be stupid,' which was nice. Sadly, it also got interrupted (on my end, not theirs) with technical issues a couple times. :-(

The thing I'm enjoying about these panels is that because people can't ask them explicit questions about their project, it wasn't the Lord Of The Rings Reminisce panel - it was Elijah and Andy, talking about how they got into acting, and what it's like to have kids when you're an actor (Elijah Wood has a son and a long-term partner, which I absolutely did not know), and what are their hobbies aside from acting, and what would their theme music be (Andy wants his to be 'What Is Love', whereas Elijah would be perfectly happy with low-key music that doesn't so much say 'I AM HERE!' as 'Hey, guys, I'm here.'). If he could work with anyone ever born, Elijah immediately named Stanley Kubrick, although he wryly followed that up with admitting, "I wouldn't like 500 takes!"

(He also said that he has a long list of fun small film ideas that he'd love to fund, if he had unlimited money, and I was reminded of Daniel Radcliffe, who got money from Harry Potter and promptly did exactly that. See under: more proof for the fan theory that Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood are the same person secretly twins separated at birth!)

Andy Serkis did talk, I swear. But he came across mostly as a chill dude, who's been a jobbing actor for most of his life. Like Elijah, I think this was his first time at DragonCon, and he was enjoying it, but he doesn't identify himself solely by a single role. ...in fairness, he's been in a lot of geek-beloved shows and movies.

And then the Strange New Worlds panel, which was listed on the schedule as Colby in Dolby: with A. Mount, E. Peck, C. Rose Gooding, & C. Chong. But on the actual stream, it appeared as 'Strange New Worlds Fan Q & A'. Whoops?

This one treaded the closest to the line, simply because it was four people who only had one thing in common, and at least one of them has only done the one show (and had a silly story to tell about her first day on the show, and having the camera come zooming in on a crane, fast enough that she automatically ducked). But they also made a point of asking about how to support SAG-AFRA, and Anson Mount had an answer! ...that my connection crapped out during. Had to reboot. Oh well.

To be fair, they did also feature song and dance (both from Celia and Christina, who have excellent singing voices), and shenanigans ('could everyone do their best impression of either Ethan or his character?' Sadly, no Spock impressions). But this was my least favorite of the three panels we've watched so far.
