Arrived home to find somebody—presumably 4-legged—had vomited on our doormat.

7. A song to drive to
Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away
It's reasonably active without being aggressive, so alertness-inducing, and the rhythm's nice. And, after an inevitable post-con crash in sentiment, I require something that tells me that yes, I'll be the one who saves us all.

I'm trying to remember what I did yesterday, and my mind is going blank. Let's see... We made a trip out to Plum Market in the evening because Cordelia really, really wanted to. Scott and Cordelia made turkey meatballs that came out reasonably well.

This morning, I woke up to find that I'd reached 90 days on holding a portal in Ingress. That's a badge increment. The next one is at 150 days and is highly unlikely. Of course, getting to 90 days surprised me. The Guardian badge is one of those that one can only hope will happen. I capture portals and keep recharging them as long as I still own them. Before this, the longest I'd held anything was 85 days (and I was cranky when that one went down because I'd started thinking it would last).

Scott had both days off this weekend. He's expecting to work next weekend but says he should be able to make sure he works Sunday. Saturday is a big Ingress event, called an Anomaly, here in Ann Arbor, and we've signed up for it as it's likely to be our only opportunity to participate in such a thing. I'm a little worried about my ability to participate fully since it's about four hours of constant walking. I specifically told them that I'm only good for an hour and that at a slow pace. I guess we'll see.

The hard part is trying to get the suggested in-game equipment for the Anomaly. A couple of local people who play a lot more than we do are helping us, but there's also the problem of what to do with the stuff we want to keep that we won't have room for.

Yesterday, our kitchen sink backed up. Scott spent a good bit of time getting it unclogged. He's a little freaked because he can't explain what he found which was a flaky, black build up rather than a wad of grease or something similar. He couldn't identify the substance at all. At least we can now run the dishwasher.

Tomorrow's going to be busy. Cordelia's high school registration will happen in the afternoon, and I need to make sure we get there on time. Cordelia's decidedly unenthusiastic about the whole thing.

38 -- name a popular anime you hate.

Nah. I don't hate the anime; I hate the fandoms.

39 -- is there an anime you wish was more popular?

Hmm... I feel like my usual flippant answers of Hyperspeed Grandoll and Tekkaman Blade II fit in here pretty nicely. David/Dead End smut I don't have to write myself? Yespls.

One more day and then I'll try to just, y'know, talk about anime on my own and hopefully, idk, better?

Always something new. Last night an elderly gent with a catheter poking out of his shirtsleeve tottered in twice. The first time he wanted to buy 2 packs of Marlboros. I sent him over to the 7-11; he acted as if he'd never heard of such an establishment. Then a bit later he came back and wanted alcoholic drinks. I sent him back to 7-11. (Meanwhile of course I'm dealing with a 3-ring circus inside the store. And we really don't look like a liquor store inside. Maybe he was blind.)

Then I came home and the ginger cat was on the porch. He (I assume) took one look at me and left.

Saturday, so the park was even busier. In the morning the dog dragged me on the grand tour, so I observed a gaggle of young men and boys playing cricket on one of the baseball diamonds. A fair amount of hitting going on—the first crack of bat against ball startled her—but one youngster spectacularly flubbed a catch, so I moved on lest I bring more bad luck. In the evening there was a barbecue party being cleaned up after, but foil strings were left hanging in the trees and littering the ground, and another still in full swing, and a couple of young kids playing on the swings with their father's assistance were being astoundingly raucous, especially since it was an hour after posted closing time. And of course the basketball and tennis courts were lighted and in full determined use. A long row of fairly nice tract houses, with picture windows, face all of that. I wonder whether they like it.

I slept in an hour, then visited the art show and did a final round of stuff-buying.

Then there were the closing ceremonies, which were nice, and then I went home and crashed. I think I'll skip San Jose 2018, but Dublin 2019 is a place I plan to go to.

I should be back to posting every 2-3 days. I have an AO3 account now where I'm posting in parallel, and I wanted to get caught up.

Saturday, I went to the con on less than enough sleep (since I was getting rather rank on Friday and had to shower => half an hour + away from my sleeping time). Here are my notes.
