A week outside of time
First things first: Yuletide reveal! I wrote The Secrets of Jessica Fletcher, thus continuing my trend of writing fic for Yuletide in fandoms I've never written before (Murder, She Wrote this time). I snapped this one off the pinch-hitters list, because MSW is one of our stand-by fluffy evening shows[1]. My recipient suggested something where Jessica is Death, or one of Death's agents. My wife, on hearing what fandom I was writing, was like I HAVE A FEW SUGGESTIONS, and the rest of the story came from there.
[1] Yes, despite the murder. The Good end happily, the Bad unhappily (mostly), and the world makes clockwork sense. ...this doesn't mesh well when the show tries to take on Social Issues, admittedly, but mostly it knows what its doing and does it well.
Other things this week:
* Actual writing! Actual writing that got posted! By which I mean I revised the YOI fairy tale story and divided things up so (a) chapters were more even, and (b) I could actually post something new rather than waiting for sweet forever until the next section was done. Plan for today: sketching out/revising that next section so I can keep up the momentum.
* Actual embroidery! Finished one Christmas present (...:cough:), and nearly done with another. Plan for today: finish that second present while watching TABLETOP. EDIT: Accomplished as of mid-afternoon!
* Shopping (the fun kind) - originally we were only going to get Legos, but then we were weak, weak fangirls. Also now my computer had all kinds of YOI stickers all over it. I regret nothing.
* On the one hand, we are not in Boston, where the last time it got above freezing was last week on Christmas Day, with a high of 37 degrees F (2 degrees C). On the other hand, it's notably below freezing here as well. I moved down south for the warmer weather, dammit. (...well, no, I moved down south because Wife, but that's not rhetorically useful at the moment.)
