A Possibly Useful Post
Hello, new people from friending meme!
I feel like I’ve reached some kind of critical mass where no really, I can’t assume that people know certain things. (For a long time, a fairly high percentage of my internet friends were also RL friends, who knew things like my RL name, for example.) So, here is Actual Information Post:
*40-yr-old, white, cis woman, married to Wife for 3 years now. I answer to 'Thia' in RL. Here is a link to a photo of me with the wife: I'm the redhead on the left.
*Living in Atlanta, GA area for a year and a half so far, after never having lived outside of New England before that. (Move was because of Wife, who is getting her PhD down here.) Culture shock is still occasionally a thing.
*Two cats: Wife's cat, named Fluff for obvious reasons, and my cat, named Mariposa, who is a purebred Siamese and an adorable little neurotic fuzzball. Fluff is not a purebred anything, although given her fondness of flopping in front of people and requesting love, we think she might be part Ragdoll. Wife would like to get a dog. I have promised that once we have a house, or at least a place with an actual yard, we will see about it. EDIT: Wife, having now seen this entry, wants it known that her cat's actual full name is Fluffanutter - like the peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich, to go with the cat's colors - and not just Fluff, "because I'm not that uncreative."
*Politically liberal, religiously Christian, do not tend to post a lot about either one. Occasionally post about my church, but more about the social dynamics therein than anything religious.
*Now working as admin at large university, referred to here as Hogwarts. Previous job was for the federal government. (No really.) I try to avoid posting anything detailed about my current job, due to a healthy paranoia about who might be reading: I don’t think any of y’all are Hogwarts students, but you never know. Also my actual job is not really all that exciting, beyond the occasional WHY IS THE SYSTEM NOT WORKING or AHHH NEED TO PROCESS ALL THE THINGS.
*In fandom since college introduced me to the Internet and Other People Who Like My Shiny Things, for certain values of ‘in fandom’ that do not currently involve much visible fannish activity. Still have Shiny Things, both old and new, and will still happily talk about them.
*Writing original fiction - if you would like in on the 'actually seeing said fiction' filter, let me know. Otherwise, writing blather gets tagged as [writing] in the subject line.
If there’s anything else...feel free to ask! If possible, I will clarify.

I am interested in the writing. All of my original winds up at
Been through Atlanta more times than I can count, doing the NC to MS and back again thing that used to be family trips. Have a couple of friends in that area currently.
Nice to meet you!

I've added you to the filter - the masterpost for what's been posted so far (which is, literally, a novel's worth) is here. I'm sporadically working on the second novel's worth, but the muses have not been cooperative lately. A goal for this coming year. :rueful:
Nice to meet you too!

I attend Dragon*Con every year and have much love for Atlanta. Well, for the con hotels, at any rate. :)

The largest con I, personally, have so far attended has been Anime Boston. We are plotting to attend DragonCon - if not this year, then next. More incentive, hooray!

Well, you can see the parade at Dragon*Con if you attend or not. Much fun!

I'd love to be on the writing filter.

I agree with your wife; cats need creative names. While "Pickles" is the least creative of my cats' names, his official name is actually "Pfeffles McDermott"!
:D

I will admit: Mariposa came already named, and I never re-named her. Previous cat was named Thomas (by my sister), and all the creativity came in explaining why. So apparently my wife is cooler than I am. ...I am okay with that. ;-)

The naming of cats is a difficult matter. Hee!
None of mine go by their "creative" names, anyway. Pickles, for example, has no idea his real name is Pfeffles.
